Mark Herbick - Founder and CEO
Mark has spent more than 25 years starting, buying, building, operating and selling businesses in numerous business sectors. His businesses have employed as few as 5 people and as many as 1500 people in 20 states. To Pursant, he brings both experiential knowledge as well as an academic background that provides a foundation for the often business-critical strategic initiatives with which clients entrust the firm. Mark is a Certified M&A Advisor through the AM&AA, has attended Harvard Business School, the University of Chicago and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business. He is a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and World Presidents Organization (WPO), serving as its past Central US Region Chairman. He also serves on private company and charitable boards.
Serah Cicek - Executive Search Consultant
Serah is a business sector lead at Pursant and also handles special executive search projects nationwide for roles in facilities services related industries. Prior to joining Pursant, Serah was a recruiter with Career Education Corporation/American InterContinental University (AIU). Serah received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University, holds a Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and is pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership both at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Carrie Van Daff - Executive Search Specialist
A specialist with the Pursant executive search practice, Carrie has more than twelve years of full life cycle recruiting experience. She has also consulted on special executive search projects nationwide as well as recruitment of roles in facilities, technical and industrial settings. Prior to joining Pursant, Carrie was a Corporate Recruiter with Bally Total Fitness Corporation. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University.

Elizabeth Fish - Executive Search Specialist
A specialist with Pursant supporting the Executive Search practice, Elizabeth brings to the table a strong recruiting background in multiple business sectors including business services, healthcare, manufacturing, non-profits and hospitality. Prior to joining Pursant, Elizabeth was a Human Resources Assistant for an independent recruiter. Elizabeth also has experience in Journalism, having worked as a Columnist for the Deerfield Patch, an online newspaper, as well as FanIQ, a sports website. Elizabeth received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota.
Jay Ehrlich - Managing Director
Jay has more than twenty five years of investment banking experience including sourcing acquisitions, divestitures, debt and equity sourcing, capital markets, workouts, distressed businesses, private equity and business operations. Prior to joining Pursant, he was a Managing Director at Pendo Advisors where he handled numerous transactions including restructuring of senior debt, MBOs, privatizations, 363 sales in bankruptcy court, sourcing capital and sale transactions.
Prior to his investment banking career, Jay led turnarounds, operated businesses and had his own law practice focusing on insolvency, bankruptcy and acquisitions. Jay received a BS in Finance from the University of Texas and a JD from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been active in the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth.
Eric Wasowicz - Managing Director
Eric began his technology career in 1984 as the founder and Co-CEO of Greenbrier & Russel, Inc., a $55m IT Services company with over 400 employees. He successfully sold Greenbrier & Russel to Fujitsu in 2006. Since then, he has been an active advisor and investor in numerous middle-market technology, digital marketing, technology consulting and strategy companies.
Mr. Wasowicz is a 1980 graduate of Northern Illinois University and now teaches applied entrepreneurship in the business school. He was the recipient of the university's Distinguished Young Alumni award in 1999. He is also on the board of advisors at NIU’s College of Business and the board of directors of Northern Illinois University Athletics. In 2009 he received the Business Alumnus of the Year award for Northern Illinois University.
Eric serves on the board of directors of the Illinois Technology Association, the board of directors of the Special Leisure Services Foundation, is a Past Chair of the Windy City Chapter of the Young President's Organization and current board member of the World Presidents Organization’s Chicago chapter. He was the recipient of the Illinois High Technology Award in 2000, and is a 2001 inductee into the University of Illinois at Chicago's Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.
Gary Ampulski - Managing Director
Gary's expertise focuses largely on Business Value Enhancement and Transition Planning/Execution. He is a seasoned operating executive with experience in start-ups, joint ventures, internal growth, corporate development, turn-a-rounds, workout and M&A transactions. He is a former business owner and CEO of two middle market, publically held companies that have successfully executed “going private” sales transactions providing both liquidity and increased return for their shareholders. He has been in the Business Services and Graphic Arts Industries for over 30 years.
Mr. Ampulski has advised private equity groups, lenders and middle market business owners on strategic planning, operating improvement and business value enhancement. He has created multiple investment theses and partnered with both private equity and buy-side investment banking advisors to connect investors with target acquisition opportunities through market assessment, platform and add-on identification, business valuation and due diligence support.
Mr. Ampulski holds a BS, MS and PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan. He has received certification credentials as a Mergers and Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) from the Alliance of Mergers and Acquisition Advisors® and an Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) from the Exit Planning Institute.
Mike Doorman - Valuations
Mike Dorman is an Accredited Business Valuator, NACVA Certified Valuation Analyst and CPA. He concentrates his practice area in the valuation of closely held businesses and has been intimately involved with these types of entities for more than 25 years.
Nicole Levy - Associate
Nicole is an associate with Pursant with a strong marketing and communications background in the professional services space. She spent seven years working with technology and healthcare related industries in the start-up and middle markets. Nicole received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Ohio University and a Master of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Illinois.
Kadir Cicek - Associate
Kadir is an M&A Associate with Pursant and serves in a critical support and research capacity for our M&A mandates. Prior to joining the Pursant team, he was a successful entrepreneur in the QSR sector. Kadir received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Rutgers University, holds an MBA from University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Marci Butler - Analyst
Marci handles financial analysis and is involved in due diligence. She has more than 20 years of experience in auditing and accounting, servicing clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, professional services, technology and real estate. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and is a CPA.
